Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Fr. Mark Lewis, and I have recently been assigned to the parish as a Parochial Vicar.
I am a priest of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter, and I come to you from San Antonio, Texas, where I served for the past eight years as pastor of Our Lady of the Atonement.
Prior to my time in San Antonio, I was the pastor of St. Luke in Bladensburg, Maryland. St. Luke was an Episcopal parish for nearly 125 years. In November 2009, with the propagation of the Apostolic Constitution, Anglicanorum coetibus, I began to lead the parish on a two year journey toward Rome. I renounced my Anglican orders on June 6, 2011 and later that year on October 9, we received the sacrament of confirmation and entered into full communion with the Catholic Church. St. Luke became the first Episcopal parish in the United States to enter the Catholic Church through this provision. I was ordained a Catholic priest on June 23, 2012, at St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
I was born and raised in Frederick County, Maryland, and I am a graduate of Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and Nashotah House Theological Seminary in Nashotah, Wisconsin. Over the course of my ministry, I have served in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Texas, and now Florida — which I believe will be my final stop.
I have been married to my wife, Vickey, for 44 years. We are blessed with a daughter and a grandson who live here in Jacksonville.
I am deeply grateful to Bishop Pohlmeier for granting me faculties in the Diocese and for assigning me to St. Joseph Parish. I look forward to working alongside my brother clergy and getting to know each of you as we continue to grow together in faith and service.
